The construction of the four-story residential and commercial building, originally called Goldener Schild, started in 1911 and was completed in 1913. A late Baroque building named Monopol originally stood on the site of the current building. The building was modified in 1877 by the builder Johann Voigt and then expanded in 1892 by the builder . The project of the current building was developed by the local architect and engineer Julius Kubíček and the construction work was carried out by the firm of builder Karel Fousko. The building, which later began to operate as Hotel Olympia, was modified by the order of the owner, Heinrich Fousko, a retired postmaster general.
