Peter the Great House

- Stará Louka 42 -
The building, also known as the Roter Adler, was constructed in the period from 1893 until 1894 as a residential and commercial building for the residential needs of Alfred Knoll and his family. The construction work was carried out by the local builder according to his own project in collaboration with the German-Bohemian architect and master builder . A Baroque house named Heydemann's or Drechsler's stood on the site of today's building. It's said that during his two visits to Karlovy Vary in 1711 and 1712, the Russian Tsar lived here, however, he might have also stayed at the Market Square. In 1910, Josef Waldert's construction company executed the construction of the two on the third floor.
