The construction of the four-story building, which was built on the site of the older Baroque building called Fregata, started in 1899 and was completed in 1900. The building, also known as Piccadilly, was built as a commercial building for businessman, industrialist, and prominent mineral water merchant , according to a project that was developed by the Austrian architect . He was also a landlord and real estate owner and he was elevated to Austrian nobility by the supreme decision of Emperor on October 27, 1889. After its completion, the building was used as a new mineral water shipping station. After the death of Heinrich Mattoni on May 14, 1910, the building was bought by Ernst Georg Wied. In 1928, the building underwent a major adaptation, the plans were drawn up by the builder . In 1935, the first floor of the building was adapted to accommodate the banking operations of the Kreditanstalt der Deutschen bank, which were carried out by the plans of the German architect architect .

The corner building, built in the Historicism style with Art Nouveau elements, is covered with a mansard roof that's topped with two . The roof contains dormers in different shapes and sizes, which are topped with either a segmental or a pointed . The larger dormers are decorated with floral decorations, and the one on the western side is adorned with an angel.
