Boyan Blaskov House

The residential and commercial building was built in 1925 and the design came from the architect . The triple house was built for the Bulgarian bookseller, bookbinder, and publisher, Boyan Dimitrov Blaskov and for Pando Popov and Nedko Totev. Boyan Blaskov was born on May 15, 1873, in Divdyadovo, today a neighborhood in . He is a third generation bookseller of the family and grandson of the prominent Revivalist .

After he finished his studies he started working in the bookstores of his uncles in Shumen. In he 1896 opened his own bookstore in Varna, which is located in the building of Yani Puriotti on Knyaz Boris I Boulevard. As a Lieutenant, he participated in the Balkan Wars and the . He died in Varna on September 16, 1948.

The building is built in the styles of Eclectic, Neo-Baroque, and Art Nouveau. On top of the corner, you'll be able to see two seated sculptures, one of a boy and one of a girl, both designed by the Bulgarian sculptor . The sculpture of the girl depicts Boyan Blaskov's daughter Tsenka.

At some parts, the ribbon, that runs along the entire roof , contains an eye motif. At some other parts, the ribbon is interrupted by fragments that contains floral ornamentation or a . There are some other fragments that are decorated with floral ornamentation. They can be seen between the third and second floor, as well as between the second and first floor. On the second floor, on the corner of the building, there's a balcony with a richly decorated railing. The railing is decorated with geometric forms, flowers, and . On the eastern side of the building, just left of the main entrance door, there's a plaque that states that Boyan Dimitrov Blaskov lived in this building.
