Nikola Drazhkov House

The residential and commercial building was built in 1897 for the Bulgarian Colonel Nikola Valkov Drazhkov. The design of the building comes from the hand of the French architect . Nikola Drazhkov was born on October 26, 1864, in . On October 5, 1882, he entered military service as a baldric cadet at the His Princely Highness school, and later on, he took part in the . On June 7, 1888, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, in 1892 to the rank of Captain, and in 1904 to the rank of Major. In 1912, as Lieutenant Colonel, he took part in the , and in 1913 in the . At the beginning of the , he was mobilized as a retired Colonel and appointed Commander. Nikola Drazhkov died in 1939, in Varna.

The dormer on top of the Neo-Classical and Neo-Renaissance building resembles a Dutch clock gable. There's a strip of lavishly decorated underneath the roof . There are two more cornices underneath the roof cornice, one of which features some beautiful ornamentation on top of it. There you can see some decorative vases, a segmental , as well as swan neck pediments within the center of it a . Between each of the windows on the second floor, you can see a with a Corinthian on top of it. Also on the second floor, there's a balcony with a stone balustrade containing . The balcony is supported by four that are decorated with foliages and . Four more pilasters can be seen on the first floor, again with Corinthian capitals and a beautiful small floral ornament.
