Stefan Babadzhov House

The residential and commercial building was built in 1915 and was designed by the Bulgarian architects and Manol Yordanov. The building was built for the public figure Stefan Babadzhov who was born on November 9, 1856, in , where he completed his primary education. In 1868 he was a telegraph operator at the Turkish telephone exchange in and later on he continued his education at Robert College in .

He became chief of the telegraph station in , as well as in Varna. Stefan Babadzhov was one of the founders of the Varna Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its chairman until 1896. In 1897 he became chairman of the Bulgarian Shipping Company and from 1891 to 1901 he was a sales representative of the sewing machine company Singer.

Since 1897 he has been a shareholder and chairman of the Grozd Joint Stock Company. Through the registered Joint Stock Company, which is called Babadzhov, he imports coal, cast iron, and other metals. Stefan Babadzhov is a highly educated person and spoke several languages. He was a prominent and influential citizen of Varna, who contributed a lot to the development of the city. He died on October 6, 1936.

The building is built in the Eclectic style and contains some beautiful Art Nouveau ornaments. A decorative vase is placed on top of the segmental . A beautiful garland runs from the vase in two directions until it reaches a pier. The part underneath the segmental cornice is adorned with floral ornaments and , as well as a beautiful oval window. At some places, just underneath the roof cornice, you can see either a decorative or a shield. Above the windows on the third floor, a was placed, which is adorned with a volute ornament in its midst. On the right side of the main facade, you can see a curved , with on the bottom of it some foliage. A , surrounded by garlands, is placed on the oriel window. The two entrances, which are located on the north side, as well as on the east side of the building, are covered with an . A beautifully decorated wrought iron fence secures the courtyard from entry.
