Sarkis Kurdyan House

The residential and commercial building was built in 1898 and was designed by the Armenian architect . The first owner of the house was the wealthy merchant and settler Sarkis Kurdyan from . His daughter Peruz married the jeweler and watchmaker Agop Tozbeykyan. From the marriage, they have two sons, Garabed and Sarkis, and a daughter Madeleine. Sarkis is a well-known donor and sponsor of the Ticha football team. In 1927 there was a project for the reconstruction of the building, but this was never executed. After the coup of , the house was nationalized and for a long time, it was used as a dormitory of the Medical School. In 2021, a renovation took place, changing the building's color from grey to green.

The Neo-Baroque building features two different kinds of , either a pointed or a segmental pediment. Two of the segmental pediments are supported by two each. Underneath the centered segmental pediment, you can see a broken segmental pediment with within it a , and two lion head holding up a in their mouth. Underneath this spectacle, you'll see four with Ionic and two , both adorned with a female figure and floral ornamentation.

On the second floor, you can see a circular that is flanked by two pilasters, which are crowned with a Corinthian capital. The capitals are decorated with foliage, , and mascarons. All the pilasters are supported by two beautifully decorated corbels. On top of the oriel window, as well as underneath the pointed pediments you'll see a strip that is richly decorated with floral ornamentation. The wrought iron barred window above the main entrance door, as well as the windows that flanked the door, are lavishly decorated.

On the east side of the building, you'll see a balcony instead of an oriel window. The two corbels that support the balcony are adorned with an ornamental eagle. On the north side of the building, there's another entrance, which is covered by an . The garden is separated from the street by a beautifully decorated wrought iron fence that is placed on top of a stone wall.
