Stoyan Zlatarov House

- Maria Luisa Boulevard 18 -
The residential and commercial building was built in 1907 for the doctor Stoyan Zlatarov. The design of the building came from the hand of the Bulgarian architect Georgi Avramov.
An archived drawing of the building created in 1907
The building is a good example of geometric Art Nouveau. The use of geometric shapes is clearly visible in the round window on the west side of the building. The use of circles and squares is also visible on this side of the building, as well as some oval shapes that can be seen in the on the second floor. On this same side, you'll be able to see two bay windows. One of which has a balcony on top of it with a wrought iron railing that's decorated with floral ornaments. The other bay window is placed at a 45 degree angle relative to the corner of the building. The hip roof on top of it is supported by wooden , the same corbels that are used to support the roof overhang.

On the north side of the building, you can see a beautiful play of lines, like around the above the windows on the second floor. On the original technical drawing, this side of the building also contained a with a on top of it, but sadly this is no longer the case.
