Stefan Milkov House

The design for the residential building came from the Bulgarian architect . It was built in 1914 for the needs of the leather trader Stefan Milkov. The slowed down the construction, as everyone was mobilized and Varna architects were no exception. The smiling house is the nickname of the building, which is probably because of the smiling female on the south side of the building.
The smiling female mascaron
Besides the smiling female mascaron, the Art Nouveau building also attracts attention with the beautiful on the southwestern corner. The turret is crowned with a quadrangular pointed dome. On each corner, you will see a round shaped , which contains a diagonal relief that gives them a multidimensional touch. The mascaron, which is located underneath the turret has some decorative flowers in her hair, as well as wings coming out of her hair.

On the south side of the building, you'll see a round shaped with a balcony placed on top of it, which is secured with a cast iron railing. Underneath the oriel window, you'll be able to see a , which is surrounded by floral ornamentation and . The green man is flanked by a mascaron with on top of them a .

On the western side of the building, you can see two more mascarons, with underneath them some ribbons and a garland wreath. The fragments above and underneath most of the windows are adorned with floral ornaments, consisting of different kinds of plants.
