Trifon Trifonov House

The residential building was built in 1898 for the famous teacher, writer, translator, and public figure Trifon Tsanev Trifonov, who was born on November 11, 1866, in . He received his primary education in his hometown, and later at the South Slavic boarding school of in . In 1888 he returned to Bulgaria and worked as a teacher and inspector in and , and later in Ruse. He takes an active part in the public life of the city. He is the head of the drama department of the society called Lira, has contributed to the unification of theatrical groups in the city, and is one of the founders of the House of Arts and Press in Ruse. He is the author of poems, plays, short stories, and articles and is also known as a translator. He was one of the first translators of Shakespeare in Bulgaria. He was married to Maria, the daughter of the famous Ruse entrepreneur Andre Turio.

During the , the Military Divisional and Court of Appeals was housed in this building, wherein August 1918, was tried. After the war, the house was bought by the rich cloth merchant Mihail Milushev, who was born in 1884, in Dryanovo. He moved to Ruse and in the 1920s he opened a large fabric store called Lafayette. His eldest son Angel married Margarita Balash, daughter of the photographer . During the , the building housed the German Consulate and after the end of the war, it was occupied by the Russians.

The building, which is built in the styles of Neo-Classical and Neo-Baroque, contains a total of three dormers, all of which are adorned with a pointed . The on the third floor are crowned with a Corinthian , while the ones on the first floor are crowned with a Composite one. Above some of the windows on the second floor, you'll be able to see a straight pediment, which is supported by two . Underneath one of these windows, you'll see a of a male. This same window is surrounded by beautiful shapes that resemble a Dutch gable. A is placed underneath this window, which contains the initials Т.Ц.Т. (T.Ts.T.). If you look a bit further down, you'll be able to admire another straight pediment, with above it the construction year 1898 and underneath it a mascaron of a female. The pediments above two of the other windows are embellished with a lion head . On the north side of the building, you'll see a huge roof terrace that's secured with a cast iron railing, which is adorned with .
