Petko is the son of Haralambi Petkov, one of the first importers of timber in Ruse. After the liquidation of the company in 1920, Petko became a shareholder of the Anonymous Joint Stock Company for Timber called Karpati. In 1928, Karpati went bankrupt and was bought by the Gabrovski brothers.

The building later housed the clinic of obstetrics and gynecology of Dr. Simeonov, the French Alliance, and departments of the Ministry of Interior. In 1978, after a complete renovation, the building was going to house a permanent exhibition on the architectural heritage of Ruse with models, projects, photos, and documents for famous Ruse architects, but after the house was restituted, it did not happen. The building found a good new owner and after a complete renovation was turned into a hotel.
