Vasil Mitakov House

The house was built in 1912 and was created by a design of the Bulgarian architect . It was built for the Bulgarian lawyer, politician, and Minister of Justice, Vasil Nikolov Mitakov. He was born in the village on July 10, 1880. His older brother, Krum Mitakov, was the founder of the Union of Bulgarian Fascists, and he had a younger sister named Zorka. His parents were divorced and his father lives in Sofia, while Vasil lives with his mother in his paternal grandfather's house. In 1890 he completed his primary education and settled in Sofia, where he continued his studies at the First Men's High School. After graduating from high school, he entered the Sofia University to study law. After graduating from the Sofia University, he completed his compulsory military service and became a lawyer in Novoseltsi. After some time he moved to and later to where he worked as a judge.

During the Balkan Wars, he was mobilized as a reserve lieutenant in the first division and took part in most of the great battles during the wars. During the , he was a second field investigator. In 1917 he became a prosecutor at the Military Court, where he remained only for 3 months. After his return to Sofia, he participated as an investigator in the case of the Radomir Republic. In the first government of , which lasted from 1939 to 1942 he was Minister of Justice. After the coup of 1944, Vasil Mitakov was among those sentenced to death by the so-called People's Court. He was executed on February 1, 1945. In 1996 the sentence was overturned.

The Eclectic four story building contains a distinctive tower with a dome and on top of it. A timber-framed motif was constructed on the fourth floor of the tower. Just right of it, you can see a wooden balcony with beautiful wood carved features. Some of the windows on the third floor are decorated with a motif. On the second floor, you'll see some crowned with a Doric holding up the protruded part above it. The south side of the building is adorned with round and oval shaped within some of them the inscribed letters Ж. Б. Г. Н. (ZH. B. G. N).

During the last renovation in 2020, the building was restored to its former glory.
