Marin Cholakov House

- Knyazheska Street 41 -
The residential and commercial building was built in two stages. In 1896, the Polish architect Edwin Petriczky planned a one-story building for the merchant Marin Cholakov, who opened a brewery in this building. It was in this brewery in 1897 that the traveling cinematographer Georgi Kuzmich made the first public film screening in Bulgaria. About 200 spectators had the opportunity to enjoy one of the Lumiere brothers' first films called Welcoming the Train. In 1930 the house was bought by Dr. Korabov, a specialist in skin and venereal diseases. It was upgraded with another floor, which was designed by architect Stavrov.
