Former Continental Hotel

The residential and commercial building was built in 1894 according to a project of the engineer Simeon Zlatov and was commissioned by the merchant Mihailov. Around 1900, it was bought by Lisa Hirsch, who converted the building for the Continental Hotel and adapted the shops on the first floor for a brewery and summer garden. She is the daughter of the wealthy merchant and industrialist Chaim Hirsch, owner of a factory for varnishes, paints, and other building materials, founded in Ruse in 1914. On the first floor, a shop called Golden Tights opened in the 1930s by Vasil Gachev, who sold haberdashery and chocolate products.

The Neo-Classical building contains the longest balcony in the city, which runs along the entire length of the main facade. The supportive , as well as the balcony railing, are created out of wrought iron. Above the windows on the second floor, you'll either see a segmental or a pointed . All of the pediments are embellished with a and foliage and the that flank the windows are crowned with Doric . A strip of is placed underneath the roof that stretches along the entire main facade.
