Stefan Yonkov House

- Slavyanski Boulevard 9 -
The residential and commercial building was built in 1897 and was designed by the engineer Boris Handjiev. It was built for the Bulgarian Colonel Stefan Yonkov, who served in the Fifth Danube Infantry Regiment. He bought a part of the Semerdzhiev family's yard and received permission to build his house there. Shortly after the house was built, Colonel Yonkov was forced to sell it because his service in the Fifth Danube Infantry Regiment was over. The new owner, merchant Asher Yakov Leon, leases the representative building to the Balkan Bank, which plays a major role in Ruse's economic development.

The building has one last owner before the coup of , which was the Jew Rahamam Moshe Asoev, from whom it was expropriated in 1947. After September 9, under the Nationalization Act, the regional office of the Ministry of Interior was housed here for a certain period of time. The Bulstrad company took over this building and settled here in the 1980s.
