Ilarion Burov House

The residential building was designed by the architect Janovic, who also designed many other buildings for the Burov family in Ruse. It was built for the Bulgarian doctor, politician, and former Mayor of Ruse, Ilarion Atanasov Burov, who was born on April 24, 1873, in . His father, Atanas Burov, was a doctor and the first cousin of banker and politician .

He graduated in medicine in and then specialized in . After his return to Bulgaria, he was appointed regimental doctor in from 1900 until 1906. During the , the , and the , he was a military doctor. He was elected Mayor on May 20, 1915, by the municipal council, a position he held until December 9, 1916. After his death on October 19, 1931, he bequeathed to the Ruse hospital five thousand shares in the Bulgarian Commercial Bank. In pursuance of the will, the hospital bears his name.
Ilarion Atanasov Burov
The most eye-catching feature of the Art Nouveau building is the round shaped with a small balcony on top of it. The beautiful gable above the balcony is embellished with a and a shield that's surrounded by floral ornamentation. Underneath the oriel window, you'll be able to see some , as well as two bunches of flowers. Below the window, you can see the same triangular motif that is used above one of the other windows. Above this curved window, you'll be able to see another mascaron. The balcony above the mascaron is supported by two and is secured with a cast iron railing.

A is placed on the northwest corner of the building, which contains a bell shaped roof. The main entrance, which is covered with an , is located on the east side of the building. Above the main entrance, you'll see a .
