Georgi Mushanov House

The residential building was built in 1896 by a project of the architect Udo Ribau and was originally built for the engineer Vasil Hristov Chaparov. In 1910 the house was bought by the great Ruse merchant Georgi Mushanov before his wedding to Nedka Hadjiberova. Georgi Mushanov was born in and studied in France. In 1900, he returned with two degrees, in astronomy and mathematics, after which he settled permanently in Ruse because of the favorable economic conditions he found here. Together with his brothers Ivan and Pencho Mushanov, he established a trading company called Ruse Bratya Mushanovi.

Georgi Mushanov enjoys great authority among the citizens of Ruse. He was a member of the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, its vice-president from 1919 to 1932, and was one of the founders of the Rotary Club in Ruse in 1936. His wife Nedka was the daughter of one of the most famous Bulgarian industrialists from , , owner of a textile factory. As a child, Nedka was sent by her parents to France, where she studied at the Burr Institute in and graduated from the International Institute in . Georgi and Nedka Mushanov have one daughter Dora and a son Nikola. Nikola was an engineer by education and a musician at heart, he died young and had no heirs.

The beautiful red brick building, which is built in the Neo-Classical style, contains a lot of sandstone . A is placed on top of the part of the building with a small circular window in its midst. Underneath the tympanum, as well as underneath the roof , you'll see unusually shaped . On the north side, as well as the west side of the building, you'll be able to see a balcony. The balconies are secured with a stone balustrade, which is adorned with pretty unusual and is supported by two . The premises is secured with a beautifully decorated wrought iron fence.
