Sarkis Kuyumjian House

The residential building was built in 1895, by a design of the architect Spiros Valsamaki, which was approved by the city architect Ivan Hayes and the district engineer Todor Tonev. It was built as a home for the rich Armenian merchant Sarkis Kuyumjian. In Ruse he was a donor and supporter of the Armenian Church and the Armenian Board of Trustees. Around 1910, Sarkis Kuyumjian and his family moved to , but he came back to Ruse several times and made other donations to the Armenian community, the Armenian school, Mesrobian, and the Armenian Community Church. In this house on November 16, 1895, his son Dikran Kuyumjian was born, who became a world-famous writer named Michael Arlen.

The building is built in the Neo-Baroque and Neo-Renaissance style. On the corner top, you'll be able to see a , which contains a total of eight . Underneath the roof , you can admire a strip of , an motif, as well as a cornice that's adorned with foliage. Above the windows, on the second floor, you can either see a straight, a pointed, or a segmental , which are all supported by . Within the pointed pediment, you'll be able to see two laying and within the segmental one a . Underneath the pediments, you can see another egg-and-dart motif, as well as another mascaron. Another mascaron is placed above some of the windows on the first floor. The windows on the first floor are flanked by a , some of which are crowned with a Doric and the others with a Corinthian one. A balcony is placed above the main entrance door, which contains a wrought iron railing and wrought iron corbels. Two lavishly decorated can be admired above the circle top window.
