Isaac Glickman House

The residential and commercial building of the industrialist Isaac Glickman was built in 1913. He arrived in Ruse from in the 1880s and was one of the first manufacturers of hats in the city. His company was registered in 1884 and in 1908 he opened a new hat factory, equipped with hydraulic presses, sewing machines, and wooden molds. After the , he sold the building to Samuel Patak, who housed his company named Sam in the building.

Samuel Patak is one of the enterprising foreigners who came to work in Ruse after the . He was born in 1858 in , studied in , and graduated from a trade school in . He settled in Ruse and founded a paper trading company, and later on, he moved the company to , bought a large paper warehouse, and developed trade for two decades. In 1909 he opened a bookbindery and after the First World War, he became the main owner of the paper factory in Belovo, which was called the Sampa paper factory. In 1927, the main shareholders in the company were Samuel Patak and his sister's husband, Moritz Rosenberg. After Patak died in 1931, Rosenberg remained the principal shareholder.

On the top corner of the Art Nouveau building, you'll be able to see a beautifully decorated , which is wearing a beautiful collar. The initials I.G. and the construction year 1912 are shown in the fragment underneath the mascaron. A bit further down you can admire a small rectangular , which is decorated with a and three small . A balcony, which is secured with a cast iron railing, is placed on each side of the building. The ornamentation between the two balcony doors is lavishly decorated with whiplash lines. These lines, although a bit smaller, can also be seen between the underneath the roof .
