Sarkis Kuyumjian Tradehouse

The commercial building was built by the Armenian merchant Sarkis Kuyumjian with the purpose to house shops with galleries and warehouses. On the first floor, there were six separate shops with galleries, and on the second floor, there are warehouses for goods. It was built in 1898 and a design was handed over by the architects Georg Lang and , of which Sarkis preferred the design of his compatriot Nikoghos Bedrosyan. Sarkis was a manager in the English-Bulgarian Shareholding Company in the umbrella industry. He was also a member of the first board of directors of the Prince Boris Gunpowder Joint Stock Company.

The building also served as a decor for the film called When Nietsche Wept. The film recreates the story of the relationship between and , which marks the birth of modern psychology.

The building, which is built in the Neo-Renaissance style, contains a total of eight dormers, all of which are topped with a segmental . The , which can be seen underneath the roof , are at some places interrupted by a pair of . Underneath the dentils, you'll be able to see little with a plant motif in them. Some of the , located on the second floor, are crowned with Composite , while others with a Doric one. The Doric capitals are embellished with a total of seven . The and the frames of the windows on the second floor are adorned with floral ornamentation. Underneath these same windows, you'll be able to see a , which is secured with a wrought iron railing. The that are located between the windows are adorned with a decorative shell, , five guttae, and the initials С.К. (S.K.). The cartouche above the main wooden entrance door is inscribed with the initials С.Т.А. (S.T.A.), Sarkis Trade Association.
