- Kniaz Aleksander Batenberg Square 3 -
The building was built in 1882 by the design of the Austrian architect and the original idea for the building was to be the residence of Prince Battenberg. Over the course of seven decades, the building was used as a district and regional government building. The intelligence department dungeon, where political prisoners were kept, was in the basement. In 1946, when the political system was changed, the state coat of arms was removed from the facade. The building was transformed in 1925 into the Police Department and in 1953 into the State Archive. Since 2007 the Ruse Regional Historical Museum is housed in the building.
