Railway Station Burgas

The current railway station was built on the place where once the old Burgas railway station stood. The design of the new building was made in 1903 and was made the Bulgarian architects and Nikola Kostov. They also use this project to build the railway station in . The two buildings are the same in their architectural solution and differ only in some details. The construction of the railway station began in 1908, and was carried out in several stages, and occupies more than 2000 square meters.

In 1922, the official opening and operation of the station took place and Anton Yakamakev became the first officer and the staff numbered 116 people. The station is among the hub stations in Bulgaria with fast and passenger routes to a lot of different big cities in Bulgaria. During the renovation in 2015, the color of the building changed from mint green to yellow.

The building was designed in the Art Nouveau style with some elements of Neo-Baroque. The most eye-catching part of the building is the tower that towers high above the building. The tower is crowned by a bell-shaped dome, and contains four clocks and four , which are secured with a cast iron railing. The building featurs many different sized and shaped gables with round shaped and spiky . On the corners of the majestic dome, which can be seen above one of the two main entrance doors, you can admire a . Both the entrances are covered by a huge , which is supported by a lot of iron . If you look a bit further up, you'll be able to see two ornaments that's decorated with five . An , which states ЖП ГАРА БУРГАС (Burgas Railway Station), is placed above these ornaments.
