Ivan Hadzhipetrov House

The building was built somewhere between 1900 and 1910 as a residential building according to the design of the Italian architect . It was constructed for the Bulgarian industrialist, donor, and politician, Ivan Hadzhipetrov, who was born in 1834 in the town of . He graduated from a trade school in , where he became involved in the fight for an independent Bulgarian church. After finishing his education, he moved to Burgas, where during the , his family suffered a blow, when all their livestock was confiscated by the Ottoman occupier for the needs of the army. After the , he was elected as the first district governor of the Burgas Department in . Later, he was elected a deputy in the Regional Assembly and for two years was the Minister of Finance in Eastern Rumelia. With his sharp mind and political sense, he invests not only funds in the industrial development of Burgas, but also proposals, ideas and innovations in the entire area. After the of Bulgaria, he was elected as a deputy in the National Assembly in the first Bulgarian elections. Ivan Hadjipetrov died in 1909, at the age of 75.

In 1867, Ivan Hadzhipetrov got married to Ganka Todorova, who was born on March 14, 1847 in the town of , in the large family of Stefanaki Teodorov and Anka Kirova. Ivan and Ganka had eight children together, but in addition to being a mother, she was engaged in charity work in Burgas. On May 20, 1898, she founded the women's charitable society called Milosardie, where she became its chairman. She also provides assistance for the construction of a new orphanage in Burgas by donating an empty lot in the city center. On October 27, 1928, Ganka Hadzhipetrova died and after her death, the orphanage opened its doors to 14 orphans between the ages of 5 and 10.

The heirs of the family continue the charitable and political activity of their family. Their son Stefan Hadzhipetrov, who was born in February 1882, in Kotel, was mayor of Burgas from May 21, until July 11, 1916. In addition to being an enterprising industrialist, he is an enterprising public figure. In 1924 he was elected Chairman of the Bourgas Stock Exchange, and from 1925 Chairman of the Burgas Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Stefan Hadzhipetrov died on August 6, 1936, in , at the age of 54.

The roof of the Neo-Classical building features two dormers, which are both crowned with a segmental . The , which is located on the southern side of the building, as well as the that separates the roof from the rest of the building, contains . Above the second floor windows, you can either see a straight, a segmental, or a pointed pediment, of which the last mentioned pediment is supported by two . The , which are placed underneath these same windows, contain the same as the stone balustrade that secures the balcony that's placed on top of the . The columns and the that are used in the construction of the building are all crowned with a Doric . The wrought iron fence, the corbels that support the that covers the side entrance, as well as the frame of the that's located on the eastern side, are all embellished with .
