Georgi Shagunov House

The residential building was built at the beginning of the 20th for the Bulgarian composer, conductor, and bandmaster of the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment, Georgi Petrov Shagunov. He was born on March 15, 1873, in and his father came from a rich family from , and his mother is Greek. Until the age of 16, he studied at the French Catholic College "Saint Augustine" in his hometown. In 1889, he went to , where he graduated from the Saint Jean Lycée, and then, instead of medicine, as his father had ordered, he enrolled at the Lyon State Conservatoire.

In 1895, returned to Bulgaria and donned the uniform of a military bandmaster and in 1896 he was sent as titular bandmaster of the 2nd horse regiment in . In 1897, he settled in Burgas, and until his retirement in 1930, he was the conductor of the military orchestra of the 24th Infantry Black Sea Regiment. He took part in the as the bandmaster of the 30th Shipchen Regiment.

He is one of the founders of the Musical Society "Native Sounds" in Burgas and is the conductor of the Society's String Orchestra. Over the years he wrote about 2000 works, including the solemn hymn called Independence. Georgi Petrov Shagunov lived in Burgas until his death on November 10, 1948.

The building was built in the Neo-Classical style and contains a balcony that stretches almost along the entire southern facade. The balcony is secured with a wrought iron railing and is supported by four wrought iron . Above the windows and the balcony door, you can see a straight , which is supported by corbels. The building contains many geometric forms, like circles, line reliefs and even a strip that's placed underneath the roof . A memorial plaque is placed on the first floor that states that Georgi Petrov Shagunov lived in this house.
