Doctor Kutsodimitros House

The residental building, which was built in 1896, was intended for the residential needs of doctor Koutsodimitros and his family. Over the years, the building has served multiple purposes, including a school, a pedagogical high school, and a dormitory. In the early 1980s, it was designated for the needs of the Natural History Museum. The museum is the only one on the Southeast Black Sea coast. It presents the geohistorical development and modern natural diversity of South-Eastern Bulgaria and contributes to the preservation of the unique nature. A complete renovation of the building took place in 2016, giving the building back its former glory.
The interior of the museum
The building is built in the Neo-Classical style but also features some Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque elements. On top of the building, you'll be able to see a with on top of it a , as well as two . A richly decorated that's surrounded by laurel twigs is placed within the tympanum, as well as a strip of , which is also placed underneath the roof . The frieze underneath this last mentioned strip of dentils is in some places embellished with . The that can be seen on the second floor are crowned with an Ionic , while the ones on the first floor are crowned with a Doric one, some of which are adorned with . The balcony that is placed above the main entrance door is supported by four corbels, which are decorated with foliage. The balcony is secured with a stone balustrade, which contains the same unique as the banisters of the beautiful stairs that lead to the main entrance door. Two of the corners on the first floor are emphasized with different sized . The stone blocks that can be seen on the basement level are decorated with the technique of .
