Akhileya Ioanidis House

The residental building was built in 1901 and the design came from the hand of the Italian architect . It was built for the Greek merchant Achillea Ioannidis, who was also municipal councilor from 1895 until 1897. His son Georgi became a well-known grain exporter.

On July 31, 1981, the building officially became the home of the Historical Museum, which has been preserving and presenting the cultural and historical heritage of Burgas and the region. The official opening was attended by officials, members of the public, and many guests, who were greeted according to tradition, which is with bread and salt. In the lobby of the building, by special order, the artist created a wall painting, a fresco with a revolutionary theme.

The building, which is built in the Neo-Classical style, contains some Neo-Baroque and Neo-Renaissance elements. On top of the western side of the building, there's a , which is richly decorated. It's decorated with a strip of , an and motif, as well as a . The cartouche is surrounded by oak twigs and is adorned with a pinecone, is which a symbol of human enlightenment, resurrection, eternal life and regeneration. In addition to a strip of dentils and an egg-and-dart motif, you'll also able to see a Greek key motif underneath the roof , as well as the cornice between the first and second floor.

Above the second floor windows, you can admire a segmental , which contains some beautiful floral ornamentation. These same windows are flanked by that are crowned with a Doric , while the other pilasters on this same floor are crowned with Ionic ones. Underneath the windows you can either see a balcony or a that contains a total of six . A straight pediment is placed above the balcony door, which is supported by two .

Above the beautiful wooden entrance door, you can see another segmental pediment, in this case it contains a shield with the intertwined initials ??, which is surrounded by oak twigs. The door is flanked by pilasters that are crowned with a Corinthian capital with a total of four on the front side. On the east side of the building, you can find another entrance, which in this case is covered by a . The loggia is supported by four columns and contains a balcony on top of it.
