Karolev Family House

The residential building, which later also gained a commercial function, was built in 1921 according to a design of by an Austrian architect. The building was inhabited by Penka Karoleva and her family, who lived on the first floor, the entrance of which is on the north side of the building. Penka was born in the family of Iliya Karolev and Gela Karoleva, who fled from Drenoveni to Burgas during the Ilinden–Preobrazhenie . Their son Philip Karolev had two sons, Hristo and Iliya, and their daughter Penka had a daughter Ilka and a son Rumen, who became a pilot. The second floor, the entrance to which is located on the western side, was occupied by the family of Philip Karolev.
The beautiful mascaron
The two story building, which is built in the styles of Art Nouveau and Neo-Baroque, is richly decorated with all sorts of ornamentation. The roof , which is placed on top of the second floor, is supported by various , which are embellished by one each. The that are located on the northern and western side of the building are crowned with a , while the ones that are located on the southern and eastern side of the building are crowned with an Ionic . The top and bottom of the second floor windows are lavishly decorated with all sorts of floral ornamentation, including a . The first floor windows, of which some of them are secured with wrought iron barring, are framed which are adorned with two , as well as a . A is placed above one of the beautiful wood-carved entrance doors, which is surrounded by even more floral ornamentation.
