Plovdiv Municipality Building

The construction of the building, which was built with an administrative purpose, was completed in 1910. It was built according to the design that came from the hand of the Bulgarian architect to house the Permanent District Commission. In the following decades, it was made available for use by the regional police department. Later on, it also housed the Plovdiv Regional Ethnographic Museum and became in use as the municipality building for the Plovdiv region from the end of the 1920s until the 1950s. From the beginning of the 1960s, it became the seat of the mayor.

A lantern tower is placed on top of the Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau building, which is crowned with a . A huge is placed on top of the part of the building, which is, just like the around it, adorned with . The frieze underneath the tympanum contains three fragments, which are embellished with ribbons, and a with a garland wreath in their midst. The fragments underneath these fragments are adorned with garlands, as well as a lot of . A bit further down, you can see even more festoons, this time with a in its midst. Another cartouche is placed at the bottom of the , which are all crowned with an Ionic . The balcony is supported by four , two of which are placed on top of a round-shaped pilaster. Above each of the first floor windows, you can admire another festoon, this time with a massive in their midst. The parts that are located on each side of the avant-corps part of the building, are lavishly decorated with even more cartouches, as well as rectangular and square frames that are embellished with floral ornamentation.
