Splendid New Hotel

The Splendid New Hotel was built in 1912 by a design of the Bulgarian architect . The building was erected in the city center, in an area with numerous hotels at the beginning of the 20th century. It had served as a hotel for many years, also under the name Lyulin Hotel, but is currently used as an administrative building. Its appearance has been seriously damaged and modified as a result of the of Sofia on January 10, 1944. The corner used to end with a small dome, and the attic floor used to have a mansard roof.

The building, which is built in the styles of Art Nouveau and Eclectic, contains a hexagonal on the corner of the building. The bottom of the oriel window is richly decorated with and a , which is surrounded by detailed floral ornaments. On the western side of the building, you can see three big balconies, which have openwork metal railings and two supportive on each side.

The are almost all identical, with the difference that on the third floor they contain some extra decorations and two extra . The above the windows on the second floor consists of two . The same decoration can be seen above the windows on the third floor, but in this case, it's part of a decorative shell. Both sides of the window frame are decorated with foliage with a small garland hanging underneath it. The corbels, which are supporting the cornice between the fourth and fifth floor are adorned with acanthus foliage and volutes. In between the corbels you can see leave shaped forms, as well as some , which are adorned with a shell and a garland.
