Atanas Smedovski House

The residential building was built between 1907 and 1908, for Hristina and Atanas Smedovski. The building was designed by the Bulgarian architects and .

In 1938, Smedovski's house was bought by the proverbially successful and respectable Sofia food merchant Georgi Gegov. He and his brother Hristo, who both came out of poverty, left their hometown in Macedonia and started their own business, whose first store still stands on Dondukov Boulevard. The Gegovi brothers' business was a success and together they owned several stores in the city. Georgi moved into Smedovski's old house after Hristo passed away. After him, his daughter Speranza and her husband lived there and their daughter Elena was born in the building.

The building is built in a typical alpine architectural style with some Art Nouveau elements. The most eye-catching feature of the building is the , with its octagonal pointy . The two decorative elements below and above the window are wing-shaped, and the elements above the window also contain two . In the top gable, you can see a small balcony, with two charming underneath it. The railing has the same decorative motives as the railing on the balcony on the eastern facade. The above the main entrance at number 44A, has a beautiful wood carved railing. Here you should also be able to see the nice column that supports the upper balcony. The rustic sandstone are created in nice contrast to the white wall.
