Mityo Bakalov House

- Ruski Boulevard 57 -
The names of the designer and the builders of the residential building, which was completed in 1910, have not been preserved. It was built for the Bakalov family, who played an important role in the social, political, economic, and cultural life of the city and the country. The house was inherited by one of the five brothers, Mityo Ivanov Bakalov, who was born in 1876. He also continued the family occupation as a grocer and merchant. He did not manage to get a proper education, but with his work and financial support, he ensured the education of his other brothers, Krum, Gospodin, Georgi, and Boris. During the period of socialism, the house was used for the offices of the City Council for Culture, and after 1989, it was restored and rented out. Somewhere between 2012 and 2015, the color of the building changed from green to orange.
