Ivan Dochev House

The residential and commercial building, which was built in 1913, was one of the masterpieces constructed by a design of the Czech architect Toma Varhota. It was built by Ivan Dochev, who was a representative in the Fifth Grand National Assembly and deputy mayor of the city of Shumen in the period from 1926 until 1927. The funds for the construction are provided by the Joint-Stock Company called Badashtnost.One year after the construction was completed, Anton Mike rented the building and opened the Grand Hotel Bulgaria in it. The hotel consists of 34 rooms, 6 cellars, and a beer hall and was later renamed Ticha and served as a hotel until 1990.

The scaly sheet metal mansard roof of the building that's built in the styles of Eclectic and Art Nouveau, contains seven dormers, which are all crowned with a pointed with a on top of them. In the frieze, you can alternately see some , as well as that support the roof above them. On top of the four that are built up of stone blocks, you'll be able to see a richly decorated female . Underneath the third floor windows, which are flanked by two garlands, you can admire an that is embellished with ten . Above and underneath the second floor windows, you can see a garland wreath, surrounded by either a festoon or garlands. The two identical balconies are both supported by two corbels and secured with a stone balustrade that contains geometrically shaped .
