Raychev Brothers Building

The construction of the residential and commercial building took place somewhere between 1923 and 1925 and according to some sources it was designed by the Bulgarian architect . The order for the construction of the building was given by the Bulgarian brothers and wine merchants, Shteryu and Atanas Raychev, who were both born in Stanimaka, nowadays Asenovgrad. In 1898, they founded the trading company called Bratya Raychev, whose activity was the trade of colonial goods and the production of brandy, wine, and spirits. The main livelihoods of the city at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century were viticulture and winemaking and trade. During a card game, Atanas won the villa of the architect Variklechkov, which was located in the Rhodope resort named Byala Cherkva, and took possession of it.

The brothers who came from the famous Raychev family in Stanimaka were the son of Ivan Raychev and the brother of Dimitar Raychev. Their uncle was the first mayor of Stanimaka. In January 1878, he was appointed as mayor by the Russian command in the city, immediately after the of Bulgaria. Their cousin was one of the first Bulgarian journalists, who is the son of their aunt Maria Raycheva and uncle Pavel Kostov by marriage.

The most distinctive feature of the Neo-Classical and Neo-Baroque building, which has been modernized over the years, is the on the southwestern corner. The scaly sheet dome on top of the turret is crowned with a . Underneath the window sills of some of the windows that are placed within the turret, you can see a strip of , while above the circle top windows, you can see a , which is surrounded by garlands. The , which runs around the entire turret, contains simplified , while the railings of the balconets that are placed on top of the semi-hexagonal contain wrought iron . This also counts for the balconies that are placed between the turret and the oriel windows. Above each of the oriel windows, you'll be able to see a , which is embellished with one each.
