Georgi Uzunov House

- Bulevard Tsar Osvoboditel 13 -
The construction of the residential building, which was built according to a design of the Bulgarian architect , was completed in 1910. It was built for the Bulgarian wool merchant Georgi Uzunov and his wife Shtiliana, who was the niece of the Bulgarian hajduk, national revolutionary, and voivode . Together they had twelve children, eight of whom lived to adulthood, one of which was their daughter Nadezhda, who was a famous dental technician and worked in the house until it was sold.

The next owners of the building were Spas and Roza Donkov, who acquired it at an auction in 1937. Spas was born in 1877 in Sliven and was a lawyer, public figure, and theater actor and Roza was a teacher until their marriage. In 1911 they became the happy parents of a son, which they named Anton, but their happiness didn't last long, as in 1913 their son died from diphtheria. Another blow for Roza and Spas was that after several years of treatment, they find out that they will not have another child. In September 1944, at one of the first major rallies, Spas Donkov was supposed to speak on behalf of the Social Democratic Party, however, a few days before the rally, he suffered a stroke and soon after passed away. After his death, Roza donated the property to the municipality and helps Spas his niece to fulfill her dream of studying at the .

In 1965, the building was granted by the municipality to the Art Gallery, which was founded back in 1905.
