Ignjat Pavlas House

The construction of the residential building, which later also gained a commercial function, took place in 1912. The building was built by an unknown architect and was owned by the Serbian lawyer, and cultural and political worker, Ignjat Pavlas. He was born on June 18, 1886, in the small village of Gornji Miholjac, in the family of Ivan and Juliana Pavlas. He graduated from the Serbian Orthodox High School in Novi Sad in 1904 and later studied law in and , where he graduated as a doctor in 1912. He opened a law office in Novi Sad after his return to the city in 1912, and after the , he presided over the Great National Assembly in Novi Sad on November 25, 1918. In addition to his work as a lawyer, he was also the president of Rowing Club Danubius from 1921 until 1938, and of the first mountaineering society in . Ignjat Pavlas was killed together with his wife Olga on January 23, 1942, in a raid by the Hungarian occupiers in Novi Sad, and their bodies were thrown under the ice in the Danube. The building was turned into a restaurant, after a renovation that took place in 2018.

Underneath the roof of the Neo-Renaissance building, you can see and a frieze containing air vents and ornamentation adorned with and foliage. A is placed above each of the windows, which are pointed, segmental, or clover shaped. The that's placed within the last mentioned pediments is richly decorated with acanthus foliage, a decorative shell, ornamental laurel twigs, and ornamental roses. The windows are flanked by half crowned with a , which is decorated with an motif.
