Rayko Goranov House

The construction of the residential building, which was built for professor Rayko Goranov, was finished in 1912. It was designed by the Austrian architect Karl Heinrich and the sculptures were created by . The house of Rayko Goranov was renovated in recent years.

Reiko Goranov, who lived from 1869 to 1940, was a university lecturer, and a professor of Greek and Latin, from . He was also a great donor of the university library and was known by his students as a mysterious and elegant person.

The richly decorated building is a great example of a mix of Art Nouveau and Rococo. Above each of the windows, a decorative is placed with on both sides beautiful foliage. The cartouches on the first floor are even decorated with female . If you look closely, you'll see the nice pearl necklace they are wearing and the seashell on top of their heads. In the above the cartouches, you see beautiful curvy patterns. Each of the window frames starts and ends with a straight-lined . The cartouches in the fragments below the windows on the first floor are adorned with volutes and floral ornaments.

On the south side of the building, on the part of the building, a of a golden-colored lion's head is placed, which is holding a in his mouth that surrounds him. Don't forget to check out the wrought iron basement barred windows on the street level and the beautifully decorated entrance gate.
