Georgi Georgov House

The residential building was built before 1878 as part of a group of buildings on Tetevenska Street, now Budapest Street, known as the Teteven Inn. The building serves as an inn and a pub owned by Pavlov. The house was originally designed by the first chief architect of Sofia, . The house was bought by the prominent public figure and politician Georgi Andreev Georgov, who completed it somewhere between 1885 and 1890. A new front part on Dondukov Street was built and the front facade of the old part was renovated.

Georgi Andreev Georgov was a Bulgarian merchant, public figure, agricultural figure, member of the Macedonian Supreme Committee, and a politician of the Democratic Party. He was born on March 8, 1858, in the town of , then in the Ottoman Empire. He is the son of the prominent Veles public figure and the brother of and .

He received his primary education in his hometown and in 1874 began to study at the agricultural school in , whose full course he completed with brilliant success in 1877. In 1879 at the invitation of the government of Bulgaria, he became deputy head of the service for agriculture and forests at the Ministry of Finance. He began to lay the foundations of Bulgarian agricultural education. On October 2, 1879, he submitted to the Council of Ministers a project for the opening of an economic school in the Sofia province and a project for the preparation of exemplary farms in each district.

From 1883 to 1888 he was engaged in the import and trade of agricultural machinery and varietal seeds. Under the Government of in 1883, he was appointed Secretary of the Council of Ministers and remained in office for nearly a year. In 1890 he organized an exemplary agricultural farm near Sofia on Tsarigradsko Shosse, which with its exemplary apiary gave impulse to the development of beekeeping in Bulgaria. In 1903 he was director of the New York Insurance Company. He died in 1929 in Sofia.

The most eye-catching part of the Neo-Baroque building is the round-shaped , which is crowned by a dome with on top of it. Just below the dome, you can see some beautiful decorative . The turret also contains an adorable small with arches, which are supported by two columns that are crowned by Ionic . On the bottom, you can see a pawn shaped which gives a harmonious connection with the walls below the turret.

The arched shapes are also visible in many other parts of the building, like above the loggia on the south side of the building. The of this particular arch contain one each. The loggia is flanked by two that are crowned with a Corinthian capital. Above these capitals, as well as in the , you'll be able to see a lion head . The like corbels underneath the roof contain a garland wreath and in between them you can see a strip, which is decorated with an motif. The top gable is crowned with a , which has a circular windows in the center of it.

The windows on the second and third floors are both flanked by pilasters, although the ones on the second floor are the only ones with Ionic capitals. A segmental is placed above the windows on the second floor. The balcony on the south side of the building is supported by three corbels, two of which are placed on the sides and one smaller one in the middle. The balcony is secured with the same wrought iron railing as the loggias.
