Stefan Vatev House

The residential building of Stefan Vatev was designed by the Bulgarian architect . It was built in the late 19th century, but to this day it is still known as the house of Stefan Vatev, named after its most famous owner, the first Bulgarian professor of pediatrics, anthropologist and collector of folklore. Stefan Vatev was born on February 6, 1866, in the city of . He completed his doctorate in medicine in in 1893 and later on specialized in pediatrics in . In 1936 he was proclaimed an Honorary Citizen of Lovech, and later of Sofia. A street in Lovech bears his name. Stefan Vatev lived in this house from 1914 until his death in 1946.

The building was built in the styles of Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau. The most eye-catching features of the building are the three different . The one on the corner is set at a 45-degree angle and is supported by two massive . The third-floor balcony balustrade is decorated with thirteen stone . The two columns support the balcony above it. A beautiful richly decorated can be seen above the main entrance door. The oriel window above it contains some lovely decorative ornaments, like the garlands on each side, as well as some and the garland framed rectangular, which can be seen in many other places. There are many different designed aprons all around the building. The third oriel window is located on the north side of the building and is circular in shape and has a balcony on top of it. Above it, another small balcony is located between the broken . The above the windows on the first floor contains two sets of three different-sized , as well as some spheres.
