Former Torontal Bank Building

- Kralja Aleksandra I Karađorđevića 10 -
The administrative building was built in 1903, as evidenced by the inscription in Roman letters MCMIII on the attic. The construction was ordered by the Torontál Bank and was built according to a design that came from the hands of the Hungarian architects Fűlőp Károly and Lajos Boszrukker. The financial institution grew out of the Torontál Savings and Loan Bank, which was founded in 1867. In 1907, the Torontál Bank entered into a close relationship with the first Pest National Savings Bank, only to dissolve this relationship in 1922. In 1926, the Torontál Bank was bought by the First Croatian Savings Bank and became the owner of the building, which is written on a marble slab under the attic.

In 1982, a renovation of the building took place and in August 2003, the building was badly damaged during a fire that broke out. The reconstruction was carried out in 2004 under the direction of the Provincial Institute.
