Sokolski Dom

The construction of the educational building was completed in 1914 and was consecrated in 1927. It was built according to a design of the Serbian architect and the two sculptures were created by the Serbian sculptor . The first owners were the Sokol Society and the city of Veliki Bečkerek, nowadays Zrenjanin. The Sokol movement is an all-age gymnastics organization first founded in in 1862. The Sokol Society in Veliko Bečkerek was founded in 1912 and already banned in 1914, just after the outbreak of the . The work of the society continued in 1920 and used the building of the gymnasium until they moved into their new building. After the , the Sokolski Dom became the home of the Partizan Physical Education Association, and later on, it became the house of the Dom Borilačkih Sportstova.
Sokol pupils
The two male sculptures, which are placed on top of the Neo-Classical building, represent two warriors. One of the male figures holds a shield and sword, while the other holds a spear and a shield. Behind both figures, you can admire a falcon, the personification of the Sokol movement. The roof is covered with beautiful different-colored glazed ceramic tiles. Underneath the that can be seen in the central part of the building and is adorned with lion head , you can see a strip of and a motif. The frieze, which you can see underneath this spectacle contains that are embellished with five . The six columns that support the parts above them are crowned with a Doric , which also counts for the . The frame that's placed around the main entrance door and the circle-top window is decorated with dentils, a leaf-and-dart, and an motif.
