The religious building, which was built for the Municipality, was built in 1896. The building was constructed according to a design of the local construction masters Hof Nandor and Hornung. The Serbian Orthodox Church Municipality was founded in 1868 on the basis of an imperial decree, which established complete self-government of the church municipality on the territory of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. It was built as a rented palace and one of the five buildings that they owned in the city. In 2004, restoration works on the facade and roof were carried out, giving the building back its former glory.
