Janoš Panji House

The residential building was built in 1911 by the architect Janoš Panji for his own and his wife's needs. He was born in 1878 in Veliki Bečkerek, today's Zrenjanin, and took his master studies in . He was a construction master, entrepreneur, and owner of a brick factory in his hometown, and he designed many buildings in his hometown. Many of these buildings and other buildings are constructed with high-quality bricks from his brick factory. He designed in the Art Nouveau style and very quickly formed a style by which he would be recognizable. He used of the stylized symbol of flower buds on the facades of houses, which became a recognizable motif of his architecture. After his death in 1938, his daughter Rosalia continued to manage the brick factory, together with her husband Janoš Brining.
The blueprint of the building
The symmetrical building is a perfect example of geometric Art Nouveau, which features many circular, square, and rectangular forms. The building also contains protruded lines that in some cases end with semi-sphere forms. The roof of the building is covered with scaly tiles and contains two small dormers. The frieze of the two parts of the building features circles and a pair of . Above the windows that are placed in the avant-corps part, you'll be able to see a , which is supported by two . In the center of the pediment, it becomes pointed and within the part where the pediment comes together, a is placed. The keystone is embellished with a of the Greek god . The wrought iron gate and fence that separates the street from the sunken part of the building, is beautifully decorated with , geometric forms, and floral ornaments.
