Saltiel Family House

The construction of the administrative and commercial, which was built according to a design that was created by the Italian architect , took place between 1924 and 1925. The construction was commissioned by the brothers Simtov, Josheph, and Abraham Saltiel, sons of Moses, who were, together with the Cohen brothers involved in the business of cashmere and readymade clothes.

The commercial part of the building, which is located on the first floor, was built to house a total of four shops. The two upper floors were built with an administrative purpose to house seven offices on each floor.

The western facade of the building, which is built in the style of Eclectic with strong Neo-Byzantine influences, contains two under which a is placed. The building contains loads of balconies, all of which are secured by stone balustrades with arched openings, as well as many of various sizes and shapes that support these balconies. Two of the balcony doors are flanked by round-shaped , which are all crowned with a Romanesque . The building is lavishly decorated with all sorts of geometric forms, including circles, squares, and octagrams. The first floor, like many other buildings in Thessaloniki, is completely covered by a huge .
