Allegra Ergas Building

The construction of the building, which was built with a residential, as well as a commercial function, was completed in 1925. It was constructed on a plot where a building stood that was destroyed by the of 1917. It was built according to a joint project of the Greek architects , , and , which was designed in 1924.
The project of the three Greek architects
The construction was commissioned by the old Jewish family of Alberto and Allegra Ergas as a residence for their family. In 1924 they received a permit to build their building with the permission to build a building, which rises from three to five floors. The assignment of the static calculations and the construction of the reinforced concrete frame was given to the company of Rellas and Anipsios.

On the corner top of the Eclectic building is crowned with an onion, which contains four round dormers and is topped with a . The floral decorated roof overhang in combination with the dome gives this part of the building an appearance that's comparable to a hat. Some of the seventh floor windows, as well as some parts of the first floor, are covered with . The open part of the two huge segmental , which is adorned with massive , features a richly decorated that contains the names ΕΡΓΑΣ and ΕΡΓΑ (ERGAS and ERGA).

Loads of were used in the construction of the building to support the many , the three , as well as the two . The pillars used to support the loggias are crowned with a Composite . The building is richly decorated with various kinds of ornaments, including leaves, , as well as motifs. In addition to the initials A.E., the barred windows of the entrance that leads to the residential part of the building, are also embellished with and floral ornamentation.
