Pavel Mihailov House

- Dobrudzha Street 10 -
The construction of the residential and commercial building started in 1918 and was completed in 1920. The building was built for Pavel Mihailov, his wife Ivanka Mihailova, and their children. Over the years the first floor hosted many different restaurants and continues to serve that purpose to this day, while the upper floors are still serving a residential purpose. In 2012, the first floor was still painted in a yellowish color, but later on, was changed to red.
An old photos showing the building
The building is built in the Art Nouveau style and its contrasting orange and red color really make the building stand out from its surroundings. The building contains many geometric forms, which is a common feature of the style of Art Nouveau. Between the wooden , which are supporting the roof overhang, you can admire many circular and square forms. Square and rectangular forms can be seen in the fragments underneath the windows on the second floor. On top of the semi-hexagonal , you'll be able to see a small balcony, which is secured with a cast-iron railing, that's also adorned with geometric forms. The beautiful arches above the windows on the first floor are embellished with foliage.
