The construction of the three-story building, which was built as an income building with residential and commercial purposes, started in 1908 and lasted until 1909. The building was built on the plot where before this building the house the master builder Wenzl Lechner stood, which was built in 1792, and from 1828, owned by Theresia Plausits. The current building was constructed according to a design that was created by the Hungarian Jewish architects and for the Jewish manufacturer Miksa Steiner, a manufacturer of lye, a compound used for the production of soap. On August 13, 1909, he received authorization to house the Discount Bank in the building, of which he was the founding shareholder in 1906.
