The construction of the three-story building, which was built for residential, commercial and religious purpose, was executed between 1821 and 1824. The architect who created the design of the building is unknown, but the protruded part and the eyelid dormers that are placed within the roof in 1981, is the work of the Romanian architect . The building was built on a plot where a small building used to stand, which was built around 1812. From around 1823, the Orthodox school operated here, and in 1847 it was in use by the New Illyrian House, having a wine cellar and commercial spaces on the first floor.
