- P. O. Hviezdoslava 22 -
The construction of the residential and commercial building, which was originally built as a two-story building, was completed in 1907. The construction was ordered by Henrich Rémi, who bought a plot of land opposite the railway station from construction entrepreneur Karol Grün. Before the , there were already six hotels in Žilina. But the most representative of them was the Hotel Rémi with thirty rooms, central heating and electric lighting. Henrich was married to Ilona, maiden name Weil, and two of their children, Alfréd and Šarlota, took after the hotel after Heinrich's death on July 12, 1928. In those days, the hotel became a dominant feature of the city, and the cafe became an important meeting place for Slovak nationalists for a certain time. The stores such as Kadlec butcher shop, Gros and Ring iron and construction material store, sales and repair umbrellas of Jozef Kohn, Ocularium Opticians, and others were also located in the raised basement.

In 1924, the hotel was expanded northwards, but the most significant reconstruction took place in 1928 when the hotel was extended by a third floor. In 1931, an open terrace was added at the level of the first floor towards the railway station, which was abolished in 1950 and restored in 2013. After the extension, the hotel had up to 85 rooms. In 1945, the hotel was temporarily named Hotel , and after it was nationalized in 1950, it was named Hotel Polom. An extensive reconstruction took place in 1951, after which a self-service restaurant in the basement began to serve customers. The last renovation of the hotel was completed in 2007 and the hotel changed its name to Palace Hotel Polom. After all these reconstructions, not much remains of the original design, and because of it, the building has lost its former glory.
