The construction of the building, which was built for the administrative and commercial needs of the Varna Popular Bank, was completed in 1939. The bank was founded in 1910 on the initiative of 46 representatives from the circles of merchants and craftsmen in the city of Varna. Some of the initiators were Anton Patamaski, Haralan Nikolov, Zheko Dimitrov, and Rafail Rahnev, and their aim was to create a bank for small savers. On October 24, 1910, the Bulgarian manufacturer and public figure was elected as a member of the first Board of Directors of the Varna Popular Bank.

Before the bank moved into the building on Nezavisimost Square, it was housed in a lot of other places. It was a tradition for the bank to donate a Christmas tree to its small savers every year around Christmas. Square.
