Bristol Hotel

The two-story building, which was built for residential and commercial purposes, was constructed somewhere at the very beginning of the 20th century. The building was built for the Shumsky family and in the first years of the completion of the construction the building housed the Passage Hotel. Soon after, the name of the hotel was changed to Bristol, and was advertised to have superbly furnished rooms with a bathroom. The prices for a room started at one ruble, and for the visitors, there were stables, a carriage house, as well as a first-class restaurant. The commercial part was occupied by several stores, including the Fashionable Manufactory, Moldavsky’s shoe store, and Bondar’s store, which sold pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. In the summer of 1941, during the , the building was heavily damaged, and not much later, in the late 1940s, the building was demolished.

At the top of the Neo-Renaissance building you could admire not only but also beautifully decorated balustrades in which, among other things, balusters had been placed. The segmental and pointed that were also part of this were richly decorated with and supported with that were embellished with a lion head . Between the corbels that were placed underneath the roof , you could see some floral decorations, including . The straight pediments that were placed above some of the second floor windows, were also supported by two corbels, but they were adorned with and a decorative shell. Above the second floor windows, which featured a and several , you could admire a that was beautifully decorated with a . The that ran around the entire north and western facade, was secured with a railing and supported by a lot of corbels, which were adorned with foliage. The on the second floor, and the protruding stone blocks on the first floor, gave the building a nice multidimensional touch.
